Why are the mannequins in a plus size store not plus sized?

Can you answer Trixie’s question about Displays?:
They are skinny mannequins. The store has to cinch the clothes in the back to make them fit the mannequin. This doesn’t make sense to me. I think they should have plus sized mannequins. Just wondering what you think?

Displays Feedback: That seems logical, however, there is no money in plus sized mannequin manufacturing.
Displays Feedback: Actually some plus size stores in the mall here do have larger mannequins in the windows but they are the same kind of “perfect” proportions… just wider.
I think it just depends on the store.
Displays Feedback: I’ve wondered the same thing. Even the models in the catologs or in pics at the store don’t look plus size either.
Displays Feedback: You know, this worries me too. I went in Lane Bryant and saw the same thing. The mannequins are slightly bigger than normal mannequins but not actually “plus size.” I doubt that there is any demand for the mannequins or they may even cost more. Just like bigger clothes cost more because there’s more fabric. I went in a store called Torrid and they actually had plus size mannequins and that rocked. But I wonder how big mannequins even come. I don’t think they make them bigger than maybe a size 10 or 12 frame.
Displays Feedback: Because the fashion industry has not caught onto the fact that skinny is no longer in. Even many of the fashion models are no longer anorexic.
I believe that mannequins in all sizes would be more appropriate and sell more clothing regardless of the type of store.
Displays Feedback: Maybe they are plus sized… Tyra Banks is plus sized and so is Whitney from ANTM Cycle 10, and they are both just a perfectly average size. Not too big or stick thin.
Displays Feedback: They are plus sized, just not as plus sized as you. They are pinned to accentuate a look or feature of the shirt - it’s a display method that makes you think that the mannequins are small.
