Garment Display

By Ron P. Maier

The art of attractively hanging garments in a way that will make them sell has been in practice for decades. Over time, retailers and store owners have learned a few tricks that help boost their sales. The use of mannequins is a very effective way to sell clothing and accessories. But what if you do not have the space or the funding to invest in mannequins? Consider hanging torso forms.

Hanging torso forms are a wonderful inexpensive solution for selling clothing on auction sites or in retail stores. If you use them at home to sell clothing on the web, you can easily store the forms in your closet when they are not in use. They do not take up much space and can be hung from your closet bar. They give clothes shape and can have a big impact on your sales.

In retail stores, you are always looking for ways to market your clothing lines without sacrificing space. Hanging forms hang at the end of your racks and show people what the clothes will look like when they are on. Today\'s styles of sheer fabrics, spaghetti straps and flowing lines may look drab and droopy on the hanger. Putting them on a hanging torso form makes people realize how good that garment may look when it is put on. Conversely, it will help them to determine if they will not like it without trying it on, reducing damage to your merchandise and saving your inventory.

Besides the use of hanging torso forms, you should also display your clothing on high quality attractive hangers. Wooden hangers are best for keeping clothes from being snagged or losing shape. Wooden hangers keep clothing racks from becoming cluttered. You do not have the unattractive mess of crossed hooks, clothing on the floor and sharp broken plastic hangers hidden between garments. Wooden hangers add elegance and organization to your clothing racks or your closets. Their durability will ensure that they last a lifetime.

By mixing up your use of mannequins, hanging torso forms and wooden hangers, you can create a merchandising oasis on each rack. Sizes can easily be found, garments are not damaged and your customers can see what each outfit looks like when it is worn without trying it on. Keeping your clothing out of the dressing room can greatly reduce the amount of damaged and stolen merchandise in your store. Consider these merchandising solutions when setting up your retail store and put a little thought into your choice of hangers and accessories. Your bottom line will thank you.
